Evidence of hard play. Check out those feet! I have seen them worse. Too bad I can't capture that sweet little boy smell for you! Actually, just before rest time, I was holding Zachary and his little boy smell was very strong. What a sweet smell it is! Jacob never naps anymore, so this is rare. Zachary usually still conks out, but I wouldn't dare go in to take a picture. He is the lightest sleeper I have ever known. In fact, the other night I was putting clothes away in the boys room after they were asleep being as quiet as possible, and it still roused Zachary. In his sleep he said, "Daddy, Daddy, Mommy, I'm hungry." I cracked up because this child is always hungry. Even in his sleep he wants food! Meanwhile, you could hang Jacob by his toes to the fan and he would sleep through it! BTW, Jacob is in the guest room in case you were thinking his room was a bit feminine!
This week Jacob started his tennis lessons. He is taking a tennis clinic, tennis tots, for 4-6 year olds. Again, Zachary is just shy of participating. I really hate it for him because he has such an interest in all sports and so badly wants to be out there too. His time is coming though! The clinic is really cute. The instructors are incredible with all the little guys and really run a great program.
Before we left for tennis on the first day, Jacob started to get really nervous, which is typical for him. Once we got there, he ended up knowing 2 boys in the clinic and made a new friend. I was so glad for him. I get just as nervous for him because I know how hard it is for him. It is painful for me to watch sometimes. As we were leaving, Jacob pointed to a little boy and told me that was his new friend and the boy didn't even know it yet. Sure enough, his mom told me today that he was encouraged to come back to the clinic today to see Jacob. How easily kids make friends!
Jacob says he loves all sports that he has played so far and will have a hard time narrowing them down :) Actually on the way to lessons yesterday, Zachary was talking about golf, imagine that. He wanted to know what "real" golfers did all day. He was asking about what their job was. I explained that they get paid to play golf and that is their job. I think they think all daddies work at an auto auction. When I explained that instead of going to the auction to work, they go to the golf course and play all day, their eyes lit up. They both proclaimed that is what they were going to do when they grow up. Zachary said, "I'm going to be a golfer on tv so I can play golf every single day."
We are still having really nice weather here. Our windows are STILL open. We have only run the air a couple of times. Someone yesterday told me this is not typical though. So we'll just enjoy while we can! The boys were outside yesterday from 8:30 am until I forced them in at 5:30. That is not an exaggeration at all either. They played with several of the neighborhood kids going back and forth between different yards. So at 5:30 I had to force them inside to chill for awhile and have dinner and visit with us! I guess this is a dress rehearsal for when they are older.
It simply amazes me how kids can play all day long and not get tired of the same things. Jacob has a "best friend" here now. A boy across the street who is a year older than him named Tanner. They play together all day every day it seems. We bought patio chairs that came in a huge box. So the boys took the box and made it their guard station. They painted it and stockpiled it with necessities. They even have squirt guns for protection.
Zachary came inside from playing with Jacob and Tanner and wanted to hang with me for a few minutes. So we had a secret snack of Oreos and milk...actually they were organic oreos and milk :) He took a bite and said, "Oh I love this white part. You know mom this white part comes from bird poop." I guess it was so good, he didn't care where it came from!
I almost forgot, Andrew is taking a bottle now! He went on a small nursing strike right after he was sick. But within a couple of days he was back to nursing fine again. However, during that time, he took a couple of bottles. So we decided to start giving him a bottle at bedtime every night and still continue nursing during the day. The last 2 nights he has taken a bottle! Last night, Steve gave him his bottle, and this morning Andrew slept in for us!
