Back in the swing of things

Well, I was just thinking that we were getting back into the swing of things. Then we saw that the streets and driveway are again covered in snow. So just as the boys are adjusting to getting back into school this week, I wonder if they will be home tomorrow?

We have had snow on the ground for 3 weeks now! So to all my friends here that told me winters aren't much different than in Hotlanta, I say you are crazy! I'm freezing! Actually, I'm not as cold as I was last year even though it is much much colder so far this year. That is because Steve and I are prepared this time. We bought fleece sheets for all the beds, we all sleep in full fleece pajamas (our house isn't very warm), and I am usually found walking around my house with either a scarf or a jacket on for an extra layer of warmth. There have even been days that I've worn base layers under my clothes!

You would think we would be tired of the snow, but we really aren't. The boys have a great sled hill carved out in the backyard now that is long and fast. In fact, it is like one long sheet of ice now. It is so icy, that Zachary could barely walk back up the hill. He just kept slipping and couldn't get a grip to walk. I was watching Jacob and Zachary sled in the backyard while I was cooking dinner and was stunned to see how fast they were going. After watching them crash into 2 trees, I made them put on helmets. Thankfully, they didn't even balk. Later that evening they informed us that they went so fast down the hill that it shot them into the road. Guess I wasn't watching that closely. The crazy thing about that is that there is a pretty deep ditch between our yard and the road. So they were going so fast that they went down into the ditch then up again and out into the street!

So we'll see if the boys are home with me tomorrow! When I told Jacob that he might not have school, he was not happy about it. Gotta love kindergarten! Each day this week, he has told me about what he is looking forward to for the next day.
