My friend has co-created the greatest free website! The website is www.takethemameal.com You must check it out! I think it is brilliant, and I've used it several times now and must say it works beautifully!
The idea is that when you need to organize meals for a family, you go to this website and set up a meal schedule. Then anyone who would like to take a meal to the family simply goes to the site and signs up for a day. The organizer can include likes and dislikes, allergies, directions, instructions, etc. Then when people sign up, they have the chance to include what they plan to bring, which is great that way the family isn't flooded with lasagnas and chicken casseroles!
It takes seconds to set up a meal schedule. It takes seconds to go on to sign up to take a meal. It saves so much time and hassle. Everything is organized in one location. You don't have people constantly calling trying to coordinate to bring the family a meal. This allows the person to just rest rather than trying to field phone calls and coordinate people bringing them meals! Now it is all done online and the person receiving the meals needs to do nothing but rest and enjoy the meals that are brought to them!
So if you know someone in need of meals, go to the site and set up a meal schedule for them. Then email it or post it in your church directory. It is that simple!
