Zachary's trip to the ER

A trip to the emergency room is how we kicked off our weekend. So far Zachary is our only child to visit the ER. This was his 2nd trip. Steve and I had a sitter lined up and were planning to go to dinner. Around 4:00 I noticed this giant spot on Zach's leg that just didn't look right. Also, he had started coughing that morning. So I told Steve that I was going to have Zachary miss soccer Saturday morning and take him to the doctor. Fearing it was a spider bite, Steve wanted me to call the doctor immediately. Long story short, they said we needed to take him in to the hospital considering it was now 5:00 pm Friday afternoon.

Reluctantly, I called our sitter and asked if she would be on standby until we knew what we were facing at the hospital. Steve wanted to take him to the hospital rather than be the one waiting at home. As soon as they left, Jacob and I prayed that they would be seen immediately at the hospital, that there would be christians there around them, they would see a doctor that would be able to correctly diagnose, and that it would be nothing serious.

Our prayers were answered exactly! They were in and out in no time. Ringworm. This is our first time with ringworm, but evidently, it is not a worm. It is a fungus. So they just sent us home with a prescription for a cream. Steve and I were still able to go on our date!

Poor Z-man has a cold though and doesn't feel so hot. So his weekend hasn't been the greatest. Sadly, he had to miss soccer this morning, which he just hated. Then we had to cancel friends coming over tonight. So our weekend ended up different than we thought it would.

But on a positive note, at least Zachary is only dealing with a small cold and ringworm, and we've had lots of good family time!
